Adafruit 2928 8-Channel PWM or Servo FeatherWing Add-on For All Fe…

Adafruit FeatherWing Add-ons For All Feather Boards – Adafruit 2928, The Adafruit 8-Channel PWM or Servo FeatherWing Add-ons use only the 2 x I2C signals from your Feather microcontroller (MCU) plus power to run 8 x servos or LEDs with 12-bit PWM. They’re the same diminutive size as all the Feather main boards and FeatherWings, just right for making compact projects that can stand up to their bigger cousins.Once you send an I2C command to one of these boards, it takes over and maintains the PWM outputs you’ve set and your MCU can get on with more important things. They are 5V compliant so your 3.3V Feather can safely drive outputs up to 6V which is handy if you want to drive white or blue LEDs with 3.4V or more forward voltages. With 6 x address select pins each you can theoretically stack 62 x of these on a single I2C bus for a total of 992 outputs. Very useful for sending Morse code message to the International Space Station or building that millipede robot you’ve been dreaming of. The outputs are configurable to operate in either push-pull or open-drain mode. The boards are crammed with the neat little touches that Adafruit do so well, such as reverse polarity protection on the power input, a green power good LED, a spot to add a big capacitor if you need to, 220 Ohm limit resistors on all the outputs and a stackable design so you can have as many outputs as you need.Adafruit have a free tutorial and library for the Arduino Shield version and well documented example code to help get you started. Supplied with a fully assembled and tested servo board, a 2-pin terminal block, and strips of 0.1in. pitch pin headers for you to solder on as required.
